In diesem Jahr wählte die Jury, der Vertreter aus Industrie, Handel, Design und Medien angehören, aus insgesamt über 1.250 nominierten Produkten 25 von besonders herausragender Gestaltungsqualität aus, für die fünf Preise in Gold und 20 in Silber vergeben wurden. Das Buch präsentiert alle Preisträger ausführlich und stellt ca. 350 weitere nominierte Produkte vor. Eingeführt wird die Publikation mit einem Grußwort des Bundeswirtschaftsministers. It is widely regarded as the design award of all design awards: the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. Germany’s highest distinction in the field of design is presented by the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology and organized on his behalf by the Rat für Formgebung (German Design Council). This year, the newly appointed jury, which brings together representatives from industry, commerce, media, and design, singled out twenty-five especially outstanding products from a total of more than a thousand submissions to receive the five gold and twenty silver awards. The catalogue offers detailed presentations of the prizewinners as well as accounts of some two hundred other nominated products. The publication opens with a greeting from the Federal Minister of economics.
